Source: wii.ign.com/articles/109/1098702p1.htmlKirby's Epic Yarn is easily one of the most original looking 2D platformers I've ever seen. The idea of turning the main character into string and having him jump around environments made up of patterns of cloth is incredibly creative and because of this the game could be one of the more beautiful games at the show. The game is on display at Nintendo's booth during the Electronic Entertainment Expo and fully playable. In the game you can control Kirby with one Wii remote held classicly (like an NES controller), and have a blue buddy join you on a second controller. The game is very platform centric, with players jumping around the environments using patches as ledges, finding weak patches to climb under to access other parts of the level all the while collecting beads found along the way. The effects of Kirby going under the surface of the cloth is spectacular, bulging the material as the characters maneuver through to the next part of the world. The character sprites are constantly morphing, reinforcing the fact that they're made of pieces of yarn. Enemies – also made of string – explode in a spectacular spray of spaghetti when they get taken out. My demo with the game was short and sweet but I'm dying to experience more. There's more to the game that we're not seeing in the E3 demo, as it seems much of the focus is on the wicked graphic design. And this is, indeed, spectacular.
