I'm surprised we are this close to playoffs and there hasn't been any discussion thread about it. So what are all your predictions for how the playoffs will turn out?
Here are my predictions:
NFC: Washington over Seattle (Redskins defense eats one dimentional teams, and Seattle's safeties match up horribly against Cooley)
New York over Tampa Bay (The Giants' lines are better, and since the Giants have he good running game, they don't have to have Eli try to pass too much against Ronde Barber and co.)
Washington over Dallas (Dallas's offense has been looking horrible and they didn't rest that many starters in the Redskins blowout.)
Green Bay over New York (Green Bay actually has a running game now. With New York unable to commit to defending the pass, Brett Farve will rip New Yorks secondary to shreads. Those quick slants that Farve loves so much will negate the effects of the pass rush.)
Green Bay over Washington (Green Bay is better than when the two teams first met, and the absence of Sean Taylor and Carlos Rogers will allow Brett Farve to have a better day. Furthermore, Green Bay's phsyical corners match up will with our undersized WRs)
AFC:
Chargers over Titans (The Chargers have the linebacker speed to contain Vince Young's scambling ability, meaning the Vince Young will actually have to reply on his throwing. 'Nough said.)
Jacksonville over Steelers (Losing Willie Parker has greatly crippled the Steelers. He was the one who basically carried the team to the playoffs)
Patriots over Jacksonville (The Jags do ont have a deep threat, nor a strong armed quarterback to stretch the field and stop the Patriots from cheating against the run.)
Colts over Chargers (Bob Sanders is the best thing to ever happen to this team. Oh, and Norv sucks)
Patriots over Colts (The Colts secondary is improved, but still vunerable. The Patriots have enough hot reads to lessen the effect of the pass rush.)
Superbowl: Patriots over Green Bay (Unfortunatly, the forces of evil prevail as Green Bay's physical corners realize Randy Moss is too big to bump off his route and New Englands lines will dominate. Brett Farve comes back another year, feeling that next year he can win a Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers cries himself to sleep.)

Nice picks Monk. I would love to see the Skins take out the Hawks and Cowboys. I'll take our chances against the Pack for the NFC title if it comes down to that.
But, yes, the Pats will win it all anyway.

My predicitons:
NFC Seattle over Washington - There's no way that Washington goes into Seattle and pulls out this win. Seattle at home is nasty. And, Washington really isn't that good of a team.
New York over Tampa Bay - In a rather lackluster game, Tampa just lacks the firepower to be able to win this one.
Seattle over Dallas - While Seattle is a completely different team on the road, Dallas has been slowly falling apart.
Green Bay over New York - New York won't be able to keep up with this spread offense and will lose in a shootout.
Seattle over Green Bay - Seattle gets into the Super Bowl by default because Green Bay simply isn't a complete enough team to win this one. Will be an interesting storyline with Holmgren beating Green Bay to get in.
AFC
Chargers over Titans - No Marty in the playoffs might actually help the Chargers finally.
Jacksonville over Steelers - Steelers have slowly been in a downward spiral since a hot start and the Parker injury only adds to that.
Patriots over Jacksonville - The Jags won't be able to score enough points to win this one. You have to score at least 28 to beat the Pats and I can only envision the Jags putting up 24 at the most.
Colts over Chargers - The Colts have quietly been ignored all season, thanks to the exploits of the Patriots. They're still really good and better than last year.
Colts over Patriots - While I don't really know if I truly believe this will happen... I would love to see it. The Colts are the one team in the league that can beat them and the blueprint for how to control the Pats is out there now. The Colts are healthier than the last meeting and the Pats aren't playing quite as good as they were at that time. Colts shock the world.
Colts over Seahawks - Luckily they get a week off to come down from the excitement of upsetting the Patriots so they can go out and do business against a team that will be completely overmatched. Not an exciting Super Bowl as Colts win a blowout.

Your brackets for the NFC are messed up. If the Seahawks win, they will play Green Bay first because they are the 3rd seed and the Packers are the 2nd seed. If the wild card matchup ends up the way you predict, it would be Dallas and New York playing in the battle of overrated pretty boy quarterbacks.

Ah, damn, you're right. I had my seeding messed up.
In that case... I'd have to have Dallas and Seattle in my NFC Championship, still with Seattle in the Super Bowl. The NFC isn't pretty.

I can see the Redskins winning it all. And this is coming from an Eagles fan. You all will probably think I'm crazy, but I really do. They're coming off a 4 game winning streak, and they're playing their hearts out for Sean Taylor. His tragic death is making them play harder, I can see them overcoming everyone. Have some faith in your team skinsman, they have a chance.
And I dont think the Pats will win the Super Bowl. Their 16-0 was lucky. They squeaked by a few teams (Eagles, Ravens, Giants, Colts) toward the end of the season, they are definitely showing signs of slowing down. If McNabb was healthy for the Eagles-Pats game, I guarantee the Eagles would have won. I dont like all the Eagles fans yet also McNabb haters, he is one of the best QBs out there. That was such a close game, I got extremely angry when they lost. I really just want to see all the Pats fans here in New England cry their little heads off when they lose.
As for the Wild Card games this week, I'd say Washington over Seattle, Bucs over Giants, Jacksonville over Pittsburgh, San Diego over Tennessee. I'll predict the rest when we get there.
The Super Bowl matchup is a tough decision right now...call me crazy...I'm going to go with either Redskins or Packers for NFC and either Chargers or Colts for AFC. Packers would beat the Chargers, but not Colts. Skins...I dont know.
I always have the weirdest predictions for everything. But, if anyone follows college basketball, I did predict the George Mason upsets to get to the Elite 8. That was amazing. No one at school believed me, but I did. I live in CT, so no one predicted them beating UCONN around here.

Hey, anything can definitely happen so I wouldn't call you crazy for picking the Skins.
Come playoff time, everybody's playing their hearts out anyway though and Seattle has the best home field advantage in the league so I do think their toughest test will be that first game there.
Ha, and yeah, in my March Madness pools, I always like the upsets. Sometimes, I get a little overboard with them and that's usually my weakness but when a see a good team that nobody has heard of with a favorable seeding, I always ride them. I love the Kent States and Pacifics of the world.

After going 4-0 in the opening round, I'm going to keep my same predictions.

I cant see the Jags beating the Pats. They just don't have the front 4 to do it and if Garrard makes the same mistakes he made against Pittsburgh, it will get ugly fast.
Seattle is much better than I thought they were...but I can't see them beating the Packers at Lambeau.
In Indy, Marvin Harrison makes his return and the Colts roll past the Chargers.
And in a battle of two teams I obviously can't stand...I'll take the Giants. They are playing real, real well, the Cowboys are not, and it is real hard to beat a team 3 times in one season.

uloseiwin, i read the article and I agree that the jags running game will give the pats some trouble, but as far as the jags beating brady and his boys, i dont think so. I want Fred Taylor to have a good rushing game. I'm a Gator alumni and i've been watching his career since he left UF, but they would need a REALLY good rushing game to win this. A team would have to play a mistake free game and the pats would have to make a lot of mistakes to lose this one.

UGHHHH STUPID PATS I hate Stallworth... My new predictions: Chargers over Patriots (The big stat here is that since the Chargers have gone on their big 8 wins in a row streak, they have had 24 takeaways, as opposed to the Pats 11 takeaways in their past 8 games. An interception can quickly change the tide of the game. In addition, the Chargers have allowed an average of 13 points in their last 8 games. Defense will be key. Still though, the Chargers have to pray that LT and Rivers will be back. If not, Volek really needs to step up.) Packers over Giants (Sorry Giants fans, but they have made a lucky run. They barely pulled out a win in Dallas, that was ridiculous. It sucks to be a Dallas fan. But, back to the Giants...I honestly believe there is NO way the Giants can beat the Packers. Brett Farve is a better quarterback than Eli Manning, without question. Ryan Grant is coming off of a 200+ yard rushing game against the Seahawks, as opposed to Jacobs's less-than-decent performance. It would be a miracle if the Giants won this one.) Super Bowl: Chargers over Packers (Chargers are on a streak right now. If they come out of New England alive, they will be PUMPED. They've already made a statement that they can win big games, they pulled off a HUGE win against Indy, even after their stars LT and Rivers went down. I would like to see the Chargers win it all. Besides, I lose 20 bucks if the Pats win the Super Bowl )
