This may be a stupid question but receivers always used to have numbers in the eighties, correct?
What's with the recent trend of numbers in the teens?

i think it's cause there are many receivers on teams now... especially during the preseason. Also, Deon Butler (Seahawk WR) was drafted wearing number 88, but decided to switch to number 11 for a more "sleeker" look. That was in the Seattle times a few months back.
Interesting Q tho.

I'm pretty sure it goes back to Keyshawn Johnson "recently," actually. They gave him the 19 because there wasn't room for him with all the 80s running around. They usually give numbers in the teens to guys who probably won't make the team. Well, he did, and he decided to keep it.
As for everyone picking a teen number? I'm not sure. If I were a wideout the first thing I'd shoot for is 80, haha. Name a BAD receiver who wore #80. I can't think of any.
