So what is the next got to have techno gift for 2010?
I am always looking for something that is pretty cool that i could either get for my brother or dad or have the wife get for me. I don't want another game system, its only a matter of time before the next gen xbox, PS4 & Wii2 come out, that would be a waste right now. I want a new TV for my bedroom but I don't want an expensive one, the 3d TVs are too much right now. I would love a Sonus system but that is too much and besides I have Rhapsody & an internet radio.
- Roku HD Player- I would get it in a heart beat if I could play everything Netflix has but since I am limited to the streaming content, its not worth it. I read there is some new free content but nothing exciting.
Any thoughts?

The only tech thing that I need is an HDMI 7.1 Receiver so I can get HD audio with my HD video! I might need to wait until next Christmas for that though.
If you don't have a Blu-ray player, I highly recommend one. I think they can be found for about $100 in the States now.

Thanks onederdad, that reminds me of Brookstone in the mall. I did see a Digital Alcohol Detector there but the wife did not see the humor in buying that for the 19 year old step daughter. This makes me laugh, I could buy a car/add on to the house or a robot. I did like the show but not that much. www.hammacher.com/Product/11036?promo=Toys-Games-Robots&catid=253 I only know a few people with a BluRay player, I have been resistent to breaking down and buying one for a while but the price is getting attractive. I have all of the movie channels, HBO, Showtime, Starz, Encore, Cinemax, about 45 channels in HD + more in SD and I haven't bought or rented a DVD in years. I am leaning towards it for those few times the wife or kids want to watch an older movie that isn't on a premium channel and I would have to pay to watch. I wouldn't mind expanding my AT&T U-verse DVR but I don't think they would let me alter it. It holds a lot more content then the Comcast DVR ever did but I wouldn't have an issue filling it. They need the Tivo feature where I can sync content to a PC or a portable device, that would be cool. The other thing I want is to find the loudest most obnoixous toy for my neice, like a drum set. Zu Zu Pets look annoying and I could tell my sister in law wouldn't like it but if I buy one for the neice then my daughter would want one. I still have time till Black Friday and it appears I am going to get a bonus this year so I might just wait until after Christmas for some deals. That is hoping the bonus will be more then just enough to take the wife out to dinner but we will see.

Are you sure you're not just trying to get back at the people who bought noisy toys for your kids?

That is always an option when possible.
A power mat could be handy around the house but not much excites me.

I saw that, my daughter wants one and it would annoy my brothers wife if I got one for my niece. I would just need to find one in stock and avoid the riots. I wouldn't pay extra just for it on eBay.
Both daughters want laptops for Christmas. I could get away with a netbook for the younger one but the older one's laptop is still ok.

Sorry Travis, no HDMI receiver this year. Turns out what we need for tech this year is a freaking car that, y'know, starts and steers and stuff.
