So I just played my 1st game of the season and I got smoked. There wasn't much I could do against Onederdad & Pittsburgh. My biggests frustration of the game is in the 1st half, I am down 14-0 and I have a 4th & Inches around the 50 and FAIR PLAY prevents me from trying to go for it.
From now on, I am insisting on playing the rest of my games with FAIR PLAY turned OFF. I don't think anyone would use it to try to run up the score but if you are down big early, but I want to be able to choice to go for it. I do not want a feature of the game to prevent me from trying if I choose to.

I hope people here don't abuse it. I think we have some trustworthy guys around here.

i will definitely play with fair play off if thats what my opponent wants(Quist), however it does also allow the leading team to go for it on 4th and inches so it could cause more of an unfair game. i really have no problem with fair play though, it really only hurts guys that are in that situation.

i think what makes fair play fair is the fact that the guidelines are preset. noone can go for it on 4th behind the 50, it may seem unfair when youre in the position that you should go for it but you cant.
lets turn the tables though(fair play off). say Quist receives the ball and scores then stops me on 3rd and 1, instead of Quist having the opportunity to go up 2 scores on me i have another chance to extend my drive. being that i play very well in this situation i would probably convert leaving Quist on defense for 4 more downs, then say a few plays later he shuts me down again on 3rd and 1, i would probably go for it again and if i made it.......... my drive would end up taking up a big chunk of the quarter but realistically thinking, im only trying to prevent Quist from having a 14-0 lead on me, so it wouldnt really be taking unfair advantage since im just trying to stay in the game, however im sure Quist would be severely bummed if i tied it up after a 7 min drive with 3 or 4 4th down conversions. this scenario is the reason i like fair play, im sure theres situations where fair play screws people but all in all it does help

I don't mind that situation, that makes sense to me. If FAIR PLAY is off should be allow a player down 1 score should they do anything they want? I would almost think we need a defined rule on that. We have had the concern of people running up the score. If you are down big and you don't convert on 4th down, you are making is easier for the winning team to score again.
If a player is up 2 or more scores, I would think that they should play as if they had fair play turned on. I have no problems if a player is down 2 or more scores to do or try anything they want.
I only hate FAIR PLAY when I have a situation like this morning.

well at any rate im willing to play with it off if someone requests. if its a one sided game of course this plan will work, but i think if its a close game there may be some contraversial calls on how fair were playing. it definitely will be a change of pace though and im curious as to how it would turn out
