Raiders set out to defend their title

The Raiders became the ultimate Cinderella story last season...but that's the Raider way. It doesn't matter how you win, all that matters is that you win. Just win, baby if you will.
The season began with a huge controversy as owner Al Davis decided to part ways with Tom Cable who had coached this Raider team through thick and thin. Even stranger was the decision to bring back John Madden, the man who created this very game we play. Davis made it clear that if the Raiders failed to win the AFC West, the whole season would have been a bust.
Rolando McClain in camp
Oakland didn't win the division but was the season a bust? No. The WiiMFL decided to go with an entirely new set-up for the post season where everyone makes it. Where everyone has a chance and anything can happen. Most onlookers considered the early games in the tournament "BYE" games for the higher ranked teams but some odd things occurred.
The only thing that wasn't surprising was Oakland kicking things off with a 30-0 win against the Patriots. They then got by Kansas City, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, AND Indianpolis to win Super Bowl XVIII.
Can they repeat?
It's going to be a tough defense for this Raider team but they've made many changes on the roster to keep competing. There aren't many cities around the league that would welcome Jason Campbell as a savior but those cities aren't Oakland. It's been a few seasons since Oakland could say they had even a decent quarterback but they do now. Rookie Jacoby Ford looks to make a splash on the offensive side of the ball as well. Can Co-Runningback of the Year, Darren McFadden defend his title?
Will Special Teams champs Sebastian Janikowski and Shane Lechler dominated again? Probably.
Many new faces on defense though. Rolando McClain looks to take over for Kirk Morrison at MLB. He comes in with a nice college career with 275 tackles, 8 sacks, and 5 picks with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Kamerion Wimbley looks to bring the pain as the other main linebacker with Thomas Howard expected to ride the bench this upcoming season.
John Madden will need his team to work as a unit much earlier this season because only the top three teams from each conference get into the playoffs. It all starts with Pittsburgh tonight.
